#Netflix snow on tha bluff skin
Nate dresses Cassie in Maddy’s skin and she wears her skin because they see her as pillar of resilience, something that can’t break. Maddy is an interesting link between the two because in Nate’s dream she was framed like something aspirational. Cassie allows herself to be dominated in the pursuit of love she never got from her dad and Nate Dominate’s in the pursuit of love he didn’t get from Cal.

I think that Nate suffers the same way Cassie does in that they both want emotional connection/love with their fathers. In a sad way that’s the only way he can see experiencing intimacy with Cal because that’s all he knows. The room was identical to the room Cal had sex with Jules and in her place Nate saw himself. In Nate’s dream he never saw his own reflection he only saw Jules. So if you’re a child connecting with your father through watching him dominate people sexually in association with him dominating you mentally that would cause trauma. That’s the only intimacy besides fighting that we’ve seen Nate experiencing Cal. We were introduced to Nate and Cal dynamic through those tapes, through voyeurism. Also Nate told Jules that Cal had been making tapes for as long as he could remember. I’m not convinced that Cal assaulted Nate only because I feel like the show would given us some indication of that when Cal was still present. It's interesting how the other characters gave up contact, sobriety, respect, peace but Ash gave the ultimate sacrifice for Fez. Ash has always seemed like a sacrificial lamb to me, from his mother sacrificing him to Fez's grandma to him sacrificing his childhood for their business and finally sacrificing his own life for the love of Fez. Ash isn't vain but he's proud, he isn't an artist but he's a soldier for Fez, he doesn't need to be high or torture people because of his life but he will sell drugs and kill to protect their life. I feel like Ashtray in a way has been about what all these character's have claimed they are about in proving their love for their fathers. Nate chose revenge agains't Cal for trying to find himself because Cal did the unforgivable in Nate's eyes which is leave him. Nate can't see that Cal is incapable of giving him love he doesn't even have for himself. like I said last episode Nate hate's Cal for giving everyone else the affection he's been longing for. Nate finally faced his reflection which is Cal to confront the source of his Pain.
#Netflix snow on tha bluff series
Nate has been trying to understand this entire series why he's so mad and where his generational curse stems from and I think Lexi's play pushed him right where he needed to be. Cassie invests in worthless /meaningless things in the pursuit of people seeing worth and meaning she doesn't see in herself. Her Vanity is a shield from the truth and she chose Nate because like with her father she needs him to see that she is worthy. Cassie cares so much about what other people think of her she can't face her own reflection.
#Netflix snow on tha bluff how to
Rue told Lexi that she didn't know how to do what she did which is turn pain into purpose, Lexi gave her hurt a meaning and Rue is still searching for a meaning for her own hurting. I also want to add Ash to this because Fez was like his father as well as his brother and he chose death. Lexi chose Art, Rue chose Drugs, Cassie chose Vanity, and Nate Chose Violence. What I found really interesting this season was the parallel between how characters chose to cope with losing physical and emotional access to their fathers.
